NZALA seminar announced: Animal Abuse and Domestic Violence

NZALA is excited to announce seminars in Auckland and Wellington in mid-November. The Seminars will focus on the link between domestic violence and animal abuse.

They will provide provide practical guidance in identifying and assisting clients who are in a position where animal abuse is a concern, and tools and practical advice on advocating for those clients and animals effectively in Court.

The seminars will feature: Anita Killeen

Anita has lobbied parliament for law reform in this area, and is published extensively on this issue and animal welfare law in general.Jess MathiesonJess is a victim of this type of offending.

Jess' ex-partner has recently pleaded guilty to a charge for killing her pet dog, Kelly. Jess will share with us her story and provide personal insight into the issueMark WiltonMark will attend the Wellington seminar.

He is the Principal Prosecutor for the New Zealand Police Prosecution Service based at Police National Headquarters.

He will contribute to the discussion regarding his experience of both animal abuse and domestic violence prosecutions.
